What is inside
- Shubhavni Kesar, your choice of 0.5 g or 1 g, grown indoors at our own facility in Mainpuri, in a glass jar
- A panchmukhi diya, five-faced, made of borosilicate glass
- All of it in our yellow glass gift box, which is worth keeping long after the kesar is used
Why it makes a good gift
- Kesar and a diya are both auspicious, and almost nobody gives the real version of either
- Grown by us, harvested the morning the flowers open and separated by hand the same day
- Our batch tested in the top grade of ISO 3632, the international saffron standard, with no added colour. The full lab report is published at shubhavni.com/lab-reports
- Packed by hand in Mainpuri by the 25 women who work with us
Good for
- Diwali and festival gifting
- Weddings, griha pravesh and new beginnings
- Clients and teams, when you want the gift to feel personal
How to use the kesar
- In water, through the day. Put 5 to 6 strands in a bottle of water, let it stand and release, then drink through the day. For children, 1 to 2 strands in their bottle
- In milk. Soak 5 to 6 strands in warm milk for 30 minutes
- In cooking. Soak 5 to 6 strands in warm milk or water for 30 minutes, then add the liquid and the strands to kheer, biryani, pulao, kahwa or shrikhand
- Never add dry strands to hot oil or ghee. The aroma burns off before it reaches the dish
- A pinch is enough. Saffron that needs a heavy hand is telling you something
Test it yourself
- Put a few strands in cold water. Real saffron releases colour slowly and the strands stay red. Dyed saffron bleeds colour at once and goes pale
